About Me

Hi, I'm Dr. Pruthvi Ponkiya — welcome to Her Health & Genes.

I'm an OB/GYN and Family Medicine specialist, and I've always been drawn to the places where biology gets personal — where a gene, a hormone, or a diagnosis stops being an abstract topic and starts shaping someone's actual life. Women's health and medical genetics sit right at that intersection, and yet the information available on both is often either buried in dense clinical literature or oversimplified to the point of being unhelpful.

I started this site to close that gap: to take real, evidence-based information from sources like ACOG, the NIH, and the CDC, and turn it into something clear and readable without losing accuracy along the way. My hope is that readers leave each article with a better understanding of their own body, their family history, or a condition affecting someone they care about — and the confidence to ask better questions at their next doctor's visit.

About This Site

Her Health & Genes is an independent educational project focused on two areas that don't get talked about clearly or often enough: women's health and medical genetics. The goal is simple — take topics that are often confusing, under-discussed, or scattered across dense clinical literature, and explain them in plain language, grounded in reputable sources like ACOG, the NIH, the CDC, and the National Cancer Institute.
